5-Day SWAT 1 (Basic SWAT)

Using tactics developed from what Military Tier One/Spec Ops and SWAT/ERT/SRT teams consistently experience during operations, the TSI Basic SWAT course will give an Officer new to a tactical team a working understanding of the core skills relating to Close Quarters Battle (CQB) techniques, surgical marksmanship and operator mindset. The course will teach Officers the critical firearms skills needed to successfully be a SWAT Operator. Officers will be challenged with and held to a high standard of target discrimination and the principles of CQB.

This course is open to all Officers that conduct warrant service, fugitive apprehension, SWAT operations and drug search warrants who are in need of a good understanding of basic room clearing tactics.

The following topics will be taught in the course:

• Close Quarters Battle (CQB) basics and techniques
• CQB styles (free- flow, points of domination, and strong wall)
• Types of assault (barricaded subject, hostage rescue, etc.)
• SWAT operations planning
• Communications
• Command and control techniques
• Surgical marksmanship
• Shooting on the move and the set-up
• Transitions
• Building entry techniques and mechanical breaching
• Target discrimination
• Weapons/kit considerations and set-up
• Vehicle sssaults as it pertains to Law Enforcement
• Operator mindset
• Training methodology
• SIMS or UTM scenarios /possible force-on-force

Ammo requirements: 500 rounds of pistol ammunition and 500 rounds of rifle ammunition per person.

Prerequisite: US Citizen Law Enforcement Officers and active duty military (Combat MOS only)

Training schedule: Show time is 7:30 am with instruction starting at 8:00 am.

Individual equipment:

• Duty handgun with 5 magazines/carbine with 5 magazines
• Individually issued equipment (LBE, ballistic or protective vest with associated magazine pouches)
• Knee and elbow pads (optional)
• Weapon cleaning kit (with oil for guns)
• Rain or inclement weather gear
• Eye and ear protection (clear and shaded lens are recommended)
• Water/Snacks (1 hr lunch break)
• Hat/Gloves (rifles will get hot)
• Sun screen (non-greasy or water resistant recommended)
• Optical sight for rifle (optional, but highly recommended)
• Flashlight
• Night vision goggles if available
• IR aiming device if available

Provided equipment:

• UTM® Pistol (customer preference of Glock, Sig Sauer, Beretta)
• UTM® safety gear
• 100 rounds of UTM Man Marker Rounds
• Holster and magazine carrier

Course includes: 40 hours of instruction and a certificate of completion.

Cost: $995 tuition fee or $1,250 package price - includes all of the above and rental of pistol, magazine pouch, magazines, eye and ear protection and required ammunition.

TSI requires applicants for training to submit documentation of responsibility before being accepted as students. Each prospective student must submit the credentials applicable to the course of instruction desired and include the credentials with the completed enrollment form.

For all courses:

• Copy of current driver's license.

For all firearms courses:

• Evidence of current Active Duty Military (Photo copy ID card)
• OR Evidence of current employment with Local, State or Federal Law Enforcement Agency

Cancellation Policy

• If cancellation is made 30 days or more prior to the scheduled course start date, a full refund of money paid will be made.
• If cancellation is made less than 30 days prior to the scheduled course start date, TigerSwan will charge a $50.00 cancellation fee.
• No refunds will be provided for no-shows or drops from training.

Statement of Eligibility

I hereby certify by my signature that I have no criminal convictions that prevent me from legally possessing, owning or purchasing firearms.

I further certify that I have no official or unofficial history of mental illness or substance abuse and that I meet the prerequisites listed for the course.

I further certify I have never been affiliated with or belong to any gang or other illegal organization involved or engaged in any illegal activities. This includes international or domestic terrorist organizations.

I further certify that my only purpose for seeking the training, which I have requested TSI to provide me, is so that I may better be prepared to provide lawful service to my employer or in performing lawful acts for my own use.

TigerSwan's training programs depend upon the careful control of each student’s cooperation regarding safety issues; therefore, I understand that my instruction may be terminated at any time if my conduct is not deemed satisfactory at the sole discretion of the staff.

That I will abide meticulously by any and all safety procedures required, and that I agree to sign a statement releasing TigerSwan, Inc. from any injury I may sustain during the program.
